Boota Singh has already applied for the initial permits. SCCC will now start fundraising and to this end a Crematorium Fundraising Committee was appointed at the meeting as follows: Gurdip S. 8. Guru Nanak Prakash Devas review- a letter was received from Lachhman Singh stating his objection to being excluded from the program after he was he was told he would be reading a poem. This letter was read out loud. Pashaura Singh explained that he made a spur-of-the-moment decision to leave out all of the poetry readings that had been put on the schedule because the program started late and was running behind. The only reason he read his own poem is because the last speaker, Naindeep Singh of Jaikara, was having problems with his computer and the Sangat had begun to leave so Pashaura Singh was trying to keep them engaged. Most importantly, however, it was the best program by SCCC in many years as could be seen in how smoothly it went and how well it was attended. Special thanks go to Pashaura Singh and Jasdeep Singh for their committed effort in organizing this program. SCCC members are encouraged to keep criticism on a positive note and avoid making personal attacks.
  9. Punjabi Language Promotion - Pashaura Singh reports that he is keeping in touch with Jack O‘Connel, the Superintendent of Schools for the State of California; there are some ongoing efforts to make changes to the public school curriculum using existing funds. He will keeps us apprised of the progress. He will also attend the next meeting of Central Unified School District to encourage them to begin offering Punjabi as a second language.
