A motion to approve was made by Amrik Singh, a second by Jasdeep Singh, and the minutes were approved by all with the above correction.
  7. Crematorium - Boota Singh gave an update about the crematorium. The plan has been submitted to the County Planning Comission and there may be a hearing in April. The city of Fowler has voiced their objection to the project due to hopes that a tax-generating business would occupy that site. Ranjit Singh gave a report on the crematorium meeting last month. It is the recommendation of the Crematorium Committee that due to the complexity of the project, the prolonged process, and the fact that SCCC lacks funds to take on such a large project it should be turned over to Gurdwara Guru Nanak Prakash. There was a motion from Hardev Singh that the crematorium project be turned over to Gurdwara Guru Nanak Prakash entirely. There was a second by Raghbir Singh. There were no objections and the motion was passed unanimously. SCCC offered its support and help to the project. Boota Singh asked for suggestions for the name of the proposed crematorium.
  8. Multifaith Exchange – Kehar Singh reported that the last meeting was on Judaism. Iqbal Singh also attended. The next meeting will be about the Baha’i faith on Mar. 21st. The meeting on Sikhism is on the schedule for May and the location is set for Gurdwara Nanak Sar. There was some discussion about potential speakers.
  9. Interfaith Alliance - Mr. Grewal attended the last meeting but there is nothing new.
  10. Haiti Earthquake relief - There was some discussion about how much of the funds collected should be sent to United Sikhs. Some members suggested that some of the funds should be given through the Red Cross. So far $14,250 has been collected. It was decided by general consensus that the entire amount will be presented to United Sikhs at the Selma Gurdwara on Mar. 7, 2010 at 11:45 AM. The media will be invited. Jasdeep Singh and Amrik Singh were assigned the duty of organizing this event.
  11. Miscellaneous
    1. Jasdeep Singh announced that he has started a Google Groups E-mail to keep everyone informed of SCCC happenings and other community events. Everyone should submit their E-mail addresses.
    2. Lachhman Singh is reportedly still boycotting SCCC. He will be asked to come to the next meeting to discuss this further.
    3. The Indian community is planning Indian Independence day celebrations. There was some discussion of how SCCC can take part.
  12. Adjourn: S. Amrik Singh Virk made motion to adjourn the meeting and Jasdeep Singh made a second to it. The meeting was adjourned at 3:53 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for Mar. 27, 2010, 4:00 PM, at Caruthers Gurdwara.
