  7. Sikhs Denied Visas to India - Jasdeep Singh reported that many Sikhs have approached him because they have been denied a visa for odd reasons such as not being able to present a greencard even though they are already citizens. This is only happening at the San Francisco Consulate. Several guests and members of SCCC confirm that this is happening, apparently to all individuals with Singh or Kaur in their names. Raghbir Singh reports that individuals in India are already approaching the central Government about this issue. After some discussion it was decided that SCCC members would approach the representatives of the Counselor who will be attending the Gadri Baba memorial event to be held this weekend. Also, Puneet Kaur, the Minister of External Affairs will be contacted about this issue.

A letter has been drafted to be sent to the Education Committee of the State.
  12. Dalip S. Saund for California Hall of Fame - a California State Hall of Fame will be part of a history museum. Pashaura Singh and others have submitted Congressman Dalip S. Saund for inclusion. There already has been a postage stamp featuring him. An attempt will be made to contact his family.
  13. Guru Nanak Prakash Ustav - It was suggested that the video of last year’s event should be edited and copied onto DVD for distribution. After some discussion Amrik Singh made the following motion: Singapore Video should be paid $100 for editing plus their cost for copying 500 DVDs; they should be distributed free at the Nagar Keertan and Vaisakhi Mela where only donations will be requested. Boota Singh made a second to the motion and all were in favor. Also, Moga Video will be contacted to see whether or not they were paid for videotaping prior year’s events. Lachhman Singh is reportedly could not attend today’s meeting due to illness.

Jasdeep Singh reports that instructions to do this will be discussed on the radio program tomorrow. A DVD will also be shown at 2 local Gurdwaras. C) The Indian community is planning Indian Independence day celebrations. The SCCC has been invited to take part. After a brief discussion Pashaura Singh made a motion that SCCC should take part in the celebration. Raghbir Singh made a second to the motion and it was passed unanimously.
